The Indian film fraternity and millions of fans worldwide are grieving the loss of Bollywood icon Dharmendra Deol, who passed away in Mumbai at the age of 89. His death marks the end of an era, leaving behind a cinematic legacy that shaped generations of film lovers. Alongside Bollywood, many prominent Pakistani artists also expressed their sorrow and honoured the legendary actor’s remarkable journey.
Dharmendra had been struggling with health concerns, especially recurring respiratory issues that required hospitalisation earlier this month. With a career spanning more than six decades, the veteran star starred in over 300 films, delivering unforgettable performances in classics such as Sholay, Seeta Aur Geeta, Chupke Chupke, and many more. His career began in 1960, and fittingly, one final film titled Ikkis is scheduled for release in December.
Earlier rumours regarding his health had circulated in November, but were dismissed by family members. This time, however, the news was sadly confirmed, prompting a wave of heartfelt tributes across borders.
From Pakistan, artists paid homage to the star who held a special place in the hearts of both nations.
Reema Khan, who met Dharmendra in 2004, shared an emotional note, describing his passing as the moment “cinema lost its heartbeat,” emphasizing that his brilliance would continue to shine forever.
Acclaimed singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan posted a memorable photograph with the actor, remembering him as a man whose art, humility, and grace touched countless lives. “A true legend never dies,” he wrote, “he lives on through the legacy he leaves behind.”
