Pakistani Showbiz Figures We Lost in 2025

As 2025 moves closer to its end, the year leaves behind a mix of achievements and heartbreak for Pakistan’s entertainment industry. While several actors and artists enjoyed professional success, the year was also marked by the painful loss of many well-known names whose absence deeply affected fans and colleagues alike. Among these losses, a few deaths shocked the nation and sparked widespread discussion.

One of the most distressing incidents was the death of senior television actress Ayesha Khan. On June 20, 2025, her body was discovered in her apartment in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal area after neighbours alerted authorities due to a strong odor. Police later confirmed that the body was in an advanced state of decomposition, raising serious concerns about isolation and neglect faced by aging artists.

Just weeks later, another tragic case emerged when the body of actress Humaera Asghar was found in an apartment in Karachi’s Defence area on July 8. Medical reports revealed that she had passed away months earlier, on October 7 of the previous year, and her remains went unnoticed for nearly nine months. The situation became even more heartbreaking when it was revealed that her father declined to travel to Karachi to receive her body. Though police initially termed the case mysterious, it was later declared a natural death. Humaera was eventually laid to rest in Lahore on July 11.

The year’s first major loss in showbiz came in April 2025 with the passing of comedian Javed Kodu. He died after battling a long illness and reportedly spent his final days in financial hardship. In one of his last interviews, Javed expressed disappointment over the lack of support from his peers, remarking that everyone seemed burdened by rising inflation.

On May 3, the industry mourned the death of Humaira Abid, a former actress from PTV’s golden era. She was the mother of film star and supermodel Iman Ali and the wife of late actor Abid Ali. Her passing marked the end of an era remembered for timeless television performances.

September proved particularly heavy for the entertainment world. Veteran comedian and actor Lucky Dear passed away on September 30 after an extended battle with lung disease and diabetes. He had been undergoing treatment in Lahore and was 60 years old. Earlier that month, on September 1, seasoned actor Anwar Ali also breathed his last after suffering from multiple serious health conditions, including lung and kidney ailments.

In November, the film industry lost another pillar when renowned producer and distributor Chaudhry Kamran Ijaz passed away following a brain hemorrhage. His contributions played a significant role in shaping Pakistan’s film business.

Adding to the year’s sorrow, celebrated film writer and scriptwriter Muhammad Kamal Pasha died on October 3 after a prolonged illness. With over 300 films to his credit, his work highlighted social realities, human emotions, and moral struggles, leaving a lasting legacy in Pakistani cinema.

You Won’t Believe Why Bushra Ansari Deleted Mahira Khan and Fahad Mustafa From Her Phone

Veteran Pakistani actress Bushra Ansari has shared a light-hearted and unexpected personal story about her brief decision to delete the contact numbers of two of the country’s biggest stars, Mahira Khan and Fahad Mustafa, after they did not respond to her messages.

Speaking during a recent interview, Bushra revealed that she had reached out to both actors on separate occasions but did not receive replies. Instead of taking it personally, she assumed they were simply occupied with their busy professional schedules. In response, she chose to quietly remove their numbers from her phone, explaining that she didn’t want to repeatedly disturb them with follow-up messages. It, however, turned into two rather amusing misunderstandings.

Bushra recalled receiving a sudden message one day saying, “I love you, I miss you.” Since she had deleted the contact, the sender appeared only as the initials “MK,” leaving her confused about the identity behind the text. Unsure, she even considered whether it might be actress Mishi Khan before realizing it was actually Mahira Khan reaching out.

According to Bushra, Mahira was surprised to discover her number had been deleted. The actress reportedly responded with a mix of affection and disbelief, asking why she had been removed from Bushra’s contacts. Bushra clarified that there was no emotional fallout involved, simply her habit of stepping back when she feels someone might be busy.

A similar situation unfolded with Fahad Mustafa. The actor was equally taken aback upon learning that his number had been erased. When he questioned her reasoning, Bushra explained her approach candidly, saying she assumed he was occupied and didn’t want to keep messaging unnecessarily. Fahad reportedly found her “philosophy” unusual but took it in good spirits.

Despite the misunderstandings, Bushra Ansari spoke warmly about both stars. She praised Mahira Khan for her respectful nature and professionalism, dismissing any negative perceptions often associated with public chatter. While acknowledging that Mahira can sometimes appear a bit indecisive, Bushra emphasized that it is simply part of her personality and not a flaw in her character.
