Three-year-old Ibrahim tragically lost his life on Sunday night after slipping into an uncovered manhole near NIPA in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. Swept away by a dangerous stream of toxic sewage, the child remained missing for hours as authorities delayed launching a coordinated rescue operation.

Heartbroken residents stood by the grieving family, helping search for the toddler and protesting the negligence that led to the tragedy. It took officials nearly 15 hours to recover Ibrahim’s body—found almost two kilometres from where he fell—a detail that has only intensified public anger.

The incident has sparked a storm of criticism from citizens and celebrities alike, who are demanding immediate accountability from Karachi’s civic agencies. Well-known public figures have taken to social media, making their outrage clear and calling for reforms to prevent such tragedies in the future.

Mahira Khan expressed her shock, terming the situation a heartbreaking reflection of “unimaginable apathy.” Sajal Ali echoed the sentiment, lamenting the “collapsed and failing system” that allowed an open manhole to claim a child’s life.

Actor Adnan Siddiqui directly pointed fingers at municipal authorities, criticising the negligence that left the manhole uncovered in the first place. Ahsan Khan and Ahsan Mohsin Ikram also urged strict action against those responsible for what they described as gross carelessness.

Zhalay Sarhadi called the tragedy “entirely avoidable,” questioning how uncovered manholes still exist in a major city when such hazards have been eliminated in most modern urban areas. Rapper Talha Yunus slammed civic inefficiency, while actors Fatima Effendi and Naumaan Ijaz criticised the misallocation of public funds—highlighting how millions are spent on traffic cameras while basic safety measures like manhole covers are overlooked.

Ibrahim’s death is questioning Karachi’s deteriorating infrastructure, the absence of proper safety checks, and the city’s struggling emergency response systems. As calls for justice grow louder, citizens are demanding structural reforms and accountability from those entrusted with maintaining public safety.

The heartbreaking loss of a young child has become a painful symbol of Karachi’s longstanding governance issues.

Imran Ashraf has had to do something no celebrity should ever have to do and that is to assure the world that he is still alive.

The actor recently found himself at the centre of a bizarre social media hoax after AI-generated videos falsely claimed that he had passed away. The fabricated clips spread across social media, leaving some fans genuinely confused about what had happened.

The videos were particularly convincing because they featured digitally created versions of familiar Pakistani personalities, including journalists and celebrities. As the content circulated, the false reports began taking on a life of their own.

Imran eventually stepped in to put the rumours to rest himself.

Taking to his Instagram story, the actor shared a direct message for his followers, writing, “ALHAMDULILLAH I AM ABSOLOUTLY FINE ITS A FAKE NEWS NEED YOUR PRAYERS.”

His message made it clear that there was no truth behind the death reports and that he was perfectly fine.

Among the fabricated content circulating online were videos featuring AI-generated versions of actor Bilal Abbas, former cricketer Shahid Afridi and journalist Mansoor Ali Khan. The use of familiar faces appeared to give the fake reports an added sense of credibility, making the hoax even more disturbing.

One video took the deception a step further by showing what appeared to be Imran Ashraf’s funeral. Such content can easily mislead viewers who encounter it without knowing that the footage has been digitally manipulated.

Unfortunately, Imran is not the first Pakistani celebrity to become the target of an AI-powered death hoax.

Earlier this year, veteran singer Tahira Syed was also forced to respond after false reports about her death began circulating online. She later appeared in a video to confirm that she was alive and healthy, while reminding people to check the authenticity of information before believing or sharing it.

Zain Hamid confirms separation from Nimra Khan

UK-based pilot Zain Hamid has confirmed his divorce from Pakistani actor Nimra Khan, months after their marriage and amid separation rumours on social media.

Nimra Khan married Zain Hamid in May 2026. However, reports of differences between the couple and speculation about their separation had been circulating on social media for some time.

At the time, Nimra had denied the reports, saying that her married life was going well. She had also removed her wedding pictures from social media, citing concerns about the evil eye.

Zain Hamid has now confirmed the divorce in a statement posted on Instagram. He said he divorced Nimra Khan on July 17, attributing the decision to irreconcilable personal differences and differences in priorities.

He said he did not want to blame anyone for the separation, adding that legal proceedings had also been initiated and the matter had been handed over to lawyers.

Zain further said the separation was mutually agreed upon and that such circumstances were equally difficult for both men and women. He also expressed his best wishes for Nimra Khan.

Nimra Khan’s marriage to Zain Hamid was her second. She had previously married Raja Iftikhar in 2020, but the marriage ended a few months later.
