Veteran Pakistani actress Faiza Hassan recently opened up about her early career, personal struggles, and body-shaming in the entertainment industry.
Appearing on a talk show, Faiza recalled starting her career with small roles, including Raheem Shah’s iconic music video Kabhi Payal Bajay.
She revealed that rejection marked much of her journey. “Someone once told me to get plastic surgery on my nose,” she said. “Even when I was very slim, people told me to lose weight. When I watch my old dramas now, I think I looked very fit.”
Highlighting the industry’s obsession with beauty, Faiza likened it to marketing. “It’s like buying soap because of its beautiful packaging. You may buy it once, but you won’t buy it again if the product isn’t good. Similarly, beauty might get you a role once, but only performance brings you back.”
Faiza explained that she works selectively and rejects projects that don’t inspire her. “I don’t take many roles because I don’t have the capacity. What’s the point of working in extreme heat if the drama doesn’t do well?” she asked, adding that she accepts only scripts that truly touch her heart.
