Actor Nadia Afgan took to Instagram to criticize the Punjab government for failing to enforce its own laws and court bans on killing stray dogs and cutting down trees. Despite clear orders from the Lahore High Court, both practices continue, especially during smog season.

Afgan, a vocal animal rights advocate, condemned the widespread cultural mindset that justifies cruelty toward dogs. She questioned how anyone could harm animals known for their loyalty, asking, “How can you kill Allah’s creatures?” She pointed out the lack of institutional support, noting there's no central helpline for reporting issues and that the Police Animal Rescue Centre is mostly inactive.

Furthermore, she alleges the government is supplying vans and guns for dog culling and that medical universities may be involved in inhumane practices. She also highlighted the failure to implement the ABC Policy 2021, which provides a humane framework for managing stray populations through sterilization and vaccination.

Beyond animal welfare, Afgan criticized the illegal felling of trees, referencing a recent case where a 150-year-old banyan tree was cut down for parking. She urged authorities to follow existing court orders to protect the environment.
