Nadia Afgan: “Indian, Bangladeshi Fans Keep Our Dramas Alive on YouTube”
Nadia Afgan believes that without fans of Pakistani dramas in India, Bangladesh, and other foreign countries, Pakistani dramas wouldn’t have an audience on YouTube.
In a recent podcast appearance, she discussed her showbiz career and the drama industry.
“Back in the day, actors would rehearse before shooting, but that doesn’t happen anymore. New actors seem to be in a hurry,” she said.
She added, “Today, most actors lead fast-paced lives. They don’t take the time to rehearse. They arrive on set, read the script, and jump straight into shooting while balancing other projects.”
“While some new actors are talented, most of them have busy schedules,” Afgan noted.
She explained, “In the past, TRP measured a drama’s popularity, but now it’s about how many views it gets on YouTube. Most of our dramas are more popular in India and Bangladesh, where audiences appreciate a drama for what it is instead of rushing to criticize it.”
Afgan pointed out, “Pakistani viewers tend to criticize immediately, questioning why certain things are shown. But these same viewers also enjoy watching dramas with sensitive themes, like a character’s pregnancy journey.”
“I have many fans in India and Bangladesh who appreciate my work,” she said, concluding that “fans of Pakistani dramas in these countries are crucial for the entire industry. If they stopped watching our dramas on YouTube, I believe no one would be watching them there.”
