Senior Pakistani actress Nadia Jamil has voiced deep concern over Pakistan’s silence on child sexual exploitation—despite widespread criticism targeting the LGBTQ community.
A viral social media video shows her speaking to a group of young girls, shedding light on the harsh, overlooked realities facing vulnerable children. She revealed that hidden camera footage by a journalist recently exposed nine child prostitution dens in Lahore and other cities, where children as young as 7 to 16 were being abused—footage that left her “shaken and heartbroken.”
Jamil emphasized that child sexual exploitation of boys persists across schools, homes, workplaces, truck stops, coal mines, and industrial sites: at truck stops, underage boys are frequently abused with impunity, while in mines and factories, boys are passed between abusers without intervention. Yet, she lamented, no one dares confront the issue openly.
Growing emotional, she shared a tragic reality: many abused children see no escape—when asked about their dreams, they often reply, “A truck driver,” as truckers typically keep one boy, while other workplaces enable multiple abusers. She criticized society for normalizing the exploitation, dismissing it as “unchangeable.”
“If we can’t stand up against child abuse,” she challenged, “why do we take strong stances on other issues?”
Jamil is urging authorities to take decisive action to eradicate the “curse” of child abuse from society.
