Despite the widespread and horrifying stories of child sexual abuse across Pakistan, many survivors find themselves compelled by social stigma to maintain silence. In such an environment of false respectability and censorship, the media plays a crucial role in amplifying voices that challenge those in power.

Pakistani actor and social activist Nadia Jamil actively addresses the issue of child abuse. Notably, Jamil's resistance against the prevalent shame culture stems from her journey of healing from a traumatic experience. During a podcast appearance with host Frieha Altaf, the actor candidly shared her reflections.
Jamil highlighted, "The youngest victim [of child sexual abuse] I heard of was a three-day-old child in Dublin or Belfast, I can't remember. This disease is nothing new; it has been ongoing for centuries." Criticizing society's failure to confront this grim reality, she expressed, "It's disgusting that, in this day and age, we lack awareness. We can't talk about it."
