Veteran Pakistani actress Seemi Raheel has strongly criticised local award shows, describing them as fake, biased, and lacking real merit. Speaking on a private news channel, the seasoned star openly discussed the condition of entertainment award ceremonies in Pakistan and why she believes they fail to reflect true talent.
According to Raheel, most award shows today are nothing more than commercial events, held either in Pakistan or abroad, and have little to do with recognising genuine artistic excellence. She pointed out that each television channel now presents its own award function, distributing trophies based on favoritism, internal politics, and selective preferences rather than professional achievement.
She also cast doubt on the transparency of the voting system, stating that it is unrealistic to think these awards are decided by honest public voting. Raheel argued that when the country struggles to maintain fair electoral processes at the national level, trusting the voting credibility of entertainment awards becomes even more questionable.
