Famous singer and social worker Shehzad Roy has raised an important question while highlighting a significant issue. He posted a video on Instagram featuring students from a school run by his organization, Zindagi Trust, standing alongside him.
In the video, Roy explains why he stands with folded hands in front of the apartments and residents around SMB Fatima Jinnah School in Karachi, managed by Zindagi Trust.
He points out that people frequently complain about corrupt rulers and the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s failure to manage garbage, which has contributed to the city’s problems—and they are right.
The video contrasts a classroom that was once a drug den, now used for girls' conferences, and an area previously controlled by the land mafia, now transformed into a library. Roy also highlights an art room, larger than those in many private schools, that was once used for weddings and is now dedicated to education.
“I won’t blame all the residents, but many have witnessed this transformation and still throw garbage into the girls’ school,” Roy says.
