Monday marks the 39th death anniversary of the revolutionary poet Faiz Ahmad Faiz. Born on February 13, 1911, in Kala Qader, Narowal district, Punjab.
Faiz was a prominent Progressive Writers’ Movement figure and a committed Marxist. In 1962, he received the Lenin Peace Prize from the Soviet Union. Posthumously, Faiz was honoured by the Pakistani Government with the nation’s highest civil award, Nishan-e-Imtiaz, in 1990.

Faiz's poetry, known for its timeless quality and multi-layered resonances across cultures, earned him admiration and recognition. In 2018, the distinguished academic Anjum Altaf paid tribute by transforming and adapting Faiz’s poems into the collection "Transgressions: Poems Inspired by Faiz Ahmad Faiz."
