Renowned scriptwriter and satirist, Anwar Maqsood, forcefully refuted circulating rumors on social media that implied his abduction, torture, and intimidation by unidentified individuals.
In a statement released on Sunday, Maqsood conveyed his frustration regarding the rampant dissemination of false information, urging his followers to dismiss these unfounded claims.
In direct contradiction to reports implying his ordeal, Maqsood explicitly clarified, "The news circulating on social media about me is baseless." Emphatically denoting it as "fake news," he emphasized his detachment from social media platforms, asserting, "I neither have any account on social media nor do I watch social media."
Maqsood disclosed that he became aware of the rumors through telephone calls from concerned individuals, further discrediting the sensationalist claims. "I not only deny all such news but also condemn those who spread such news without verification," he added, underscoring the significance of responsible reporting.
The scriptwriter's robust rebuttal arises in response to recent online speculations implying he was targeted due to his critical stance against the current government and their purported allies. Dismissing these insinuations, Maqsood urged the public to exercise discernment and cautioned against the spread of unfounded rumors.
Through his unequivocal denial, Anwar Maqsood aims to conclusively put an end to the baseless speculation surrounding his alleged abduction and torture, reaffirming his unwavering commitment to truth and integrity in the face of misinformation.
