Ali Zafar has spoken out in support of his former Bollywood co-star Katrina Kaif after the actress faced criticism and body-shaming comments over her postpartum appearance.

The Pakistani singer and actor is no stranger to Bollywood. Ali built a successful career across the border and appeared in several popular Hindi films before returning to Pakistan amid growing political tensions between the two countries. During his time in the Indian film industry, he shared the screen with some of Bollywood’s biggest stars, including Katrina Kaif in Mere Brother Ki Dulhan.

Katrina, meanwhile, has remained one of Bollywood’s most recognizable leading ladies. The actress is married to actor Vicky Kaushal, and the couple recently welcomed their first child, a baby boy. Since becoming a mother, Katrina has largely stayed away from the spotlight and taken a break from her film commitments.

Her recent public appearance, however, quickly became a topic of discussion online, with some social media users targeting her for gaining weight after giving birth.

The criticism did not go unnoticed by Ali Zafar. Having worked with Katrina and witnessed her professionalism firsthand, the Mere Brother Ki Dulhan star took to Instagram to address the unnecessary scrutiny surrounding her postpartum body.

Ali emphasized that people need to stop judging women based on their appearance, particularly when they have no idea what someone may be experiencing in their personal life.

He pointed out that people go through different phases and argued that there is no justification for constantly judging others, especially women, for changes in their bodies or circumstances.

The reaction to Ali’s statement was largely supportive. One person praised him by writing, “This is why you are my favourite,” while another summed up the sentiment with the phrase, “Jeo aur jeenay do.” Someone else highlighted the wider issue of women being judged by other women, commenting, “Unfortunately women are seen judging other women.”

Katrina’s appearance has once again opened up conversations about the pressure placed on actresses to maintain a particular image even after major life changes such as childbirth.
