Actor and producer Ayesha Omar has officially offered audiences their first glimpse of her upcoming film Mera Lyari, unveiling a series of striking posters on social media and calling the project a deeply personal journey.
The newly released visuals serve as the first public introduction to the film, which is expected to hit screens soon. One of the main posters features Ayesha alongside Dananeer Mobeen, while separate character covers spotlight Samiya Mumtaz, Nayyer Ejaz, Adnan Shah Tipu and Sania Sohail Khan. The designs carry a muted, intense aesthetic, hinting at a grounded and realistic narrative rather than a glossy, larger-than-life spectacle.
Sharing the posters, Ayesha accompanied them with a heartfelt message that reflected the emotional investment behind the film. Describing Mera Lyari as her “first baby,” she emphasised the years of dedication, effort and belief that went into bringing the story to life, adding that the film will be released soon.
The timing of Mera Lyari is especially significant, the film emerges amid ongoing controversy surrounding the Indian spy thriller Dhurandhar, which drew sharp criticism in Pakistan for its depiction of Karachi’s Lyari neighbourhood as a lawless and violent zone. Politicians, commentators and members of the public condemned the portrayal as misleading and damaging, accusing the film of reinforcing harmful stereotypes.
