Diljit Dosanjh Backs ‘Sardaar Ji 3’ and Hania Aamir’s Casting
Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh is not backing down in the face of political backlash and public scrutiny. Amid mounting controversy over his latest film Sardaar Ji 3, the singer-actor has spoken out about the decision to cast Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, defending both the film and his co-star with a sense of conviction and clarity.
Sardaar Ji 3: Casting That Brought Storm
Sardaar Ji 3, the much-anticipated sequel in Diljit’s popular film franchise, was initially set to release globally — including in India. But tempers flared when it was revealed that Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, known for her vibrant performances and growing international appeal, had been cast in a prominent role. This decision drew strong criticism from two major Indian film bodies — the Federation of Western Indian Cine Employees (FWICE) and the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA). Their objection? The inclusion of a Pakistani talent during a time of heightened political tension.
As a result, the film’s release in India has been shelved. Speaking to BBC Asian Network, Diljit revealed that the decision was ultimately a business one, made by producers wary of the escalating backlash. “The producers decided that the film won’t be able to release in India, but it can release overseas,” he shared. “They’ve already put a lot of money into the film, and when it was made, none of this had happened. Now they’re looking at a loss.”
“Hania Aamir Is Very Professional”
Despite the fallout, Dosanjh praised Hania Aamir for her dedication and conduct on set. While their scenes together were limited, he made it clear that she brought a high level of professionalism to the project. “She was very professional,” he said, brushing off the controversy with calm dignity.
The collaboration first caught attention when Diljit invited Hania on stage during his London concert last year, drawing cheers and speculation. What began as a charming moment between two artists from across borders soon turned into a cinematic partnership — one that is now paying the price of political tension.
A Familiar Pattern of Artistic Suppression
This isn’t the first time art has become a casualty of strained India-Pakistan relations. From Fawad Khan’s shelved Abir Gulaal to the digital scrubbing of Mahira Khan and Mawra Hocane’s Bollywood appearances, history continues to repeat itself. Pakistani talent has frequently been welcomed into Indian cinema only to be pushed out when diplomacy takes a dark turn.
Dosanjh’s stance, however, is a quiet act of resistance — a reminder that artists should not be scapegoats for political agendas. While Sardaar Ji 3 may be missing from Indian screens, it is set to release overseas this week, offering global audiences a glimpse of what could’ve been a shared cultural success.

Alpha Bravo Charlie’s Captain Kashif Recalls Terrifying Helicopter Scene
Even decades after its release, Alpha Bravo Charlie continues to hold legendary status among Pakistani drama fans, and now one of its most beloved stars has revisited a behind-the-scenes moment that nearly left him terrified.
Retired Pakistan Army officer Abdullah Mehmud, famously remembered as Captain Kashif from the iconic ISPR drama, recently shared memories from one of the serial’s most dangerous scenes during a public event.

Originally aired in 1998, Alpha Bravo Charlie followed the lives, friendships, and struggles of three army officers – Kashif, Faraz, and Gulsher. Directed by legendary filmmaker Shoaib Mansoor, the drama became a cultural phenomenon and remains one of Pakistan Television’s most celebrated productions. The series also served as a sequel to the classic ISPR drama Sunehrey Din.
During the event, Captain Abdullah Mehmud was asked about the most unforgettable memory from the drama’s production. Without hesitation, he pointed toward the famous helicopter sequence — a scene that still lives vividly in his memory years later.
Recalling the intense experience, he revealed that the moment the helicopter lifted into the air, fear instantly took over. Hanging at such a dangerous height while looking down at the mountains below made him realize just how risky the scene truly was.
According to him, the thought running through his mind at the time was terrifyingly simple: if he fell from that height, survival would have been impossible. Despite the fear, the sequence was completed successfully and eventually became one of the most memorable moments of the series.
Reflecting on the experience with gratitude and patriotism, Abdullah Mehmud said he feels fortunate everything went safely and proudly added that the spirit of serving and fighting for the motherland always remains alive.
Fans of Alpha Bravo Charlie have long admired the drama for its realism, emotional storytelling, and action-packed sequences. Captain Kashif’s recent recollection has once again reminded audiences why the series continues to enjoy cult status even after more than two decades.

Farhan Saeed Responds to Criticism Over Playing College Student in ‘Bas Tera Saath Ho’
Pakistani singer-turned-actor Farhan Saeed has finally addressed the online criticism surrounding his role in the drama Bas Tera Saath Ho, where he portrays a young college-going boy despite being in his 40s.
Farhan, who first rose to fame through music before becoming one of television’s most loved romantic leads, recently returned to the small screen with the emotionally driven drama. In the serial, he plays Anas – an orphaned young man battling difficult circumstances while trying to survive life’s harsh realities. The character’s innocence, emotional struggles, and journey through education form the emotional backbone of the story.
However, while many viewers praised the drama’s emotional depth, others could not ignore the noticeable age gap between the actor and the character he was portraying. Social media quickly filled with discussions questioning how believable it was for Farhan Saeed to appear as a university student at this stage of his career.
Speaking candidly, Farhan admitted that he understands why some viewers found the role difficult to accept initially. According to him, the college storyline was essential for building the emotional journey and personality development of Anas. He explained that while filming, he never really focused on whether the role would appear awkward because he was deeply invested in the character’s emotional arc.
Farhan shared that he only began noticing the conversation around his age after the episodes aired and audiences started pointing it out online. Even then, he believes the criticism mainly affects the beginning of the drama.
The actor confidently stated that if viewers remain invested in the story, they eventually move past the age factor. He joked that by the fifth episode, the audience tends to forget they are watching a 40-year-old actor playing a college student and for him, that is the real success of performance and storytelling.
At the same time, Farhan acknowledged that viewers are entitled to their opinions. He admitted that expecting audiences to instantly accept an older actor in such a youthful role would be unrealistic. Rather than dismissing the criticism, he called it valid and understandable.
