‘Zombeid’ Teaser: Fahad Mustafa and Mehwish Hayat Enter Zombie Madness

The much-awaited trailer for Fahad Mustafa and Mehwish Hayat’s upcoming film Zombeid has finally arrived, and it looks like Pakistani cinema is preparing for a wildly chaotic Eid release packed with zombies, explosions, bloodshed, and a heavy dose of old-school action movie nostalgia.

It is positioned as Pakistan’s first full-fledged zombie thriller, the film’s trailer instantly grabbed attention online after dropping on Monday. Blending horror, comedy, and over-the-top action, the preview feels like a throwback to the loud and dramatic action films that ruled the 1980s.

Set against the chaotic backdrop of Karachi, the story appears to revolve around a deadly virus outbreak that erupts during a mixed martial arts event. Fahad Mustafa plays a fighter caught in the middle of the madness, while Mehwish Hayat stars as his romantic interest who also finds herself trapped in the horrifying situation.

The nightmare begins on Chand Raat, just before Eid celebrations, when attendees at the fighting arena start turning into flesh-hungry monsters. What follows is complete mayhem as terrified civilians scramble to survive while authorities initially dismiss the bizarre reports as nonsense.

One of the trailer’s standout moments comes when a frustrated police officer reacts sarcastically to the news of zombies roaming around Karachi, brushing it off as another Chand Raat prank. But as the outbreak spirals out of control, government forces are eventually forced to intervene, turning the city into a war zone filled with gunfire, panic, and blood-soaked battles.

Beyond the horror, the trailer proudly leans into retro Hollywood action references that fans of classic cinema will instantly recognize. Fahad Mustafa appears channeling serious 80s action-hero energy, sporting a sleeveless tank top and headband that strongly resemble Sylvester Stallone’s legendary look in First Blood.

In another moment, the actor recreates one of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s most iconic catchphrases from The Terminator, adding a playful nod to vintage action fans. The trailer also features sequences reminiscent of Bruce Willis in Die Hard, including rooftop jumps and intense survival scenes amid destruction.

Despite the humour sprinkled throughout the trailer, Zombeid clearly is not holding back on gore. The visuals include brutal zombie attacks, bloody fight sequences, and disturbing transformations that may not be suitable for sensitive viewers. However, for audiences craving something different from traditional Eid releases, the film appears determined to deliver an adrenaline-fueled cinematic experience.

With horror, comedy, romance, and nostalgic action all rolled into one explosive package, the film is already generating curiosity among moviegoers eager to see how Pakistani cinema tackles the zombie genre on a large scale.

Zombeid is scheduled to hit theatres worldwide on the first day of Eidul Azha, promising audiences a thrilling ride filled with undead chaos and retro action madness.
