Fawad Khan Joins All-Star Judging Panel as ‘Pakistan Idol’ Returns After a Decade

After a ten-year silence, ‘Pakistan Idol’ is making a powerful comeback and this time, it’s bigger, bolder, and far more star-studded. Among the most anticipated revelations? Heartthrob actor and singer Fawad Khan will be gracing the judges’ panel, setting the tone for a new era of musical excellence.

The singing reality show, modeled after Simon Fuller’s globally successful “Idol” franchise, originally aired between December 2013 and April 2014. Back then, it was judged by big names like Ali Azmat, Hadiqa Kiani, and Bushra Ansari. Despite its short-lived run, it left a lasting impression on Pakistani audiences.

Now, with MHL Global securing rights from Fremantle to reboot the franchise, the stage is set for a spectacular return. This time, Fawad Khan will be joined by an extraordinary lineup of music royalty: Zeb Bangash, the soulful voice behind many indie hits; Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, the qawwali maestro; and Bilal Maqsood, the iconic Strings musician. The judges’ bench itself promises a harmony of genres and generations.

Pakistan Idol’s revival will make global franchise history by airing simultaneously on five different television networks. It’s a bold, first-of-its-kind distribution strategy aimed at reaching every corner of Pakistan, from major cities to remote regions, in multiple languages.

According to Zoya Merchant, Director of MHL Global, “This isn’t just a show it’s a cultural movement.” With online auditions through the Begin platform and in-person calls across the country, the production intends to bridge modern digital engagement with traditional TV appeal.

Production is slated to kick off later this year, with premiere dates yet to be announced and with Fawad Khan, a crossover superstar with fans in both Pakistan and India, joining the judging panel, expectations are sky-high. Khan’s return to music-related programming is a full-circle moment for fans.

Fans Spot Striking Similarities Between ‘Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum’ and Indian Show

Few Pakistani dramas in recent years have managed to create the kind of international frenzy that Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum did. With its memorable characters, emotional storytelling, and standout performances, the drama became a phenomenon not only in Pakistan but across borders, particularly among audiences in India.

Featuring acclaimed actors Fahad Mustafa as Mustafa, Hania Aamir as Sharjeena, Emmad Irfani as Adeel, and Naeema Butt as Rubab, the series quickly became one of the most talked-about television productions of the year. Its popularity gave rise to countless discussions online, with viewers praising its relatable characters and emotionally charged moments.

Now, months after the drama concluded, it has once again found itself at the center of social media conversation—this time because of an Indian television production that many viewers believe bears a striking resemblance to the hit Pakistani series.

The Indian show, titled Qubool Hai, stars real-life celebrity couple Mohit Sehgal and Sanaya Irani. The project marks the couple’s return to the screen together, a development that initially generated excitement among their fans. However, discussions soon shifted from the stars themselves to scenes that viewers claimed looked remarkably familiar.

Social media users began sharing clips from both dramas, pointing out similarities between certain character interactions and story moments. One sequence in particular attracted attention because of its resemblance to a memorable scene from Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum. In the original drama, Sharjeena prepares food for the household, only to find herself in an uncomfortable situation when Rubab attempts to tip her, creating tension and emotional conflict.

According to viewers, a comparable scene appears in Qubool Hai, leading many fans to accuse the Indian production of borrowing heavily from the Pakistani drama’s storytelling style and character dynamics.

Another point of comparison emerged when audiences noticed similarities in the portrayal of a male lead’s laid-back and habitually late personality – a character trait that became one of Mustafa’s most recognizable qualities in Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum. Fans argued that the resemblance was difficult to ignore, fueling further online debate.

As clips circulated across social media platforms, reactions poured in from both sides of the border. Many Pakistani viewers expressed frustration, claiming the Indian show had replicated some of the most iconic moments from the drama without bringing the same emotional depth or originality.

Several users commented that the performances and chemistry that made Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum successful could not be easily recreated. Others argued that similarities between television projects are common in the entertainment industry and that audiences should wait before making definitive judgments.

Regardless of where viewers stand, the discussion has once again highlighted the enormous cultural impact of Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum. Long after its finale, the drama continues to generate conversations, proving that its characters and memorable scenes remain firmly embedded in the minds of fans.

Atif Aslam Announces First Album in Nearly Two Decades

Tawakkul

Pakistani music sensation Atif Aslam turned a memorable night in London into a deeply personal moment as he reflected on his journey from the streets of Lahore to one of the world’s most celebrated concert venues.

Performing before a packed crowd at London’s O2 Arena, the singer paused his show to share a story about the people who stood by him long before fame found its way into his life. Speaking candidly to fans, Aslam recalled his younger days in Lahore and the sacrifices made by friends who believed in him when he was still chasing his dreams.

He described himself as an ordinary boy who often struggled with the limitations of pocket money but never lacked support from those around him. According to the singer, his friends would share their lunches, offer him rides to college, and help him navigate the challenges of everyday life. Looking out at thousands of fans in the iconic arena, Aslam reflected on how unimaginable it once seemed that the same boy from Lahore would one day perform on such a grand international stage.

The emotional speech resonated with concertgoers, many of whom applauded the singer’s gratitude and humility. Aslam then dedicated a special performance of his beloved track “Jal Pari” to everyone who supported him during the early days of his music career, particularly those who stood beside him while he worked toward releasing his debut album.

But the surprises did not end there. To the delight of fans, the singer used the occasion to reveal that a brand-new studio album is finally on the way. The upcoming project will mark his fourth studio album and his first major album release since 2008, ending a wait that has lasted nearly 18 years.

While Aslam chose not to reveal the album’s title or additional details, he confirmed that fans can expect the release during the first week of August. The announcement sparked excitement throughout the arena, with supporters cheering the news of new music from one of South Asia’s most celebrated voices.

Released on Eidul Azha, Zombeid quickly emerged as one of the most discussed Pakistani films of the holiday season. The movie, which blends horror, action and comedy, has been widely recognized as Pakistan’s first major zombie thriller and continues to attract audiences in cinemas across the country.

In her latest social media post, Mehwish shared a series of candid photographs and videos featuring herself and Fahad Mustafa. Since much of the film takes place inside a gym, several images showed the actors dressed in workout gear, laughing and enjoying breaks between scenes.

Among the highlights were snapshots of the pair riding a motorcycle together, Mehwish posing beside a bright yellow car, and a playful video showing the co-stars holding hands while suspended from a rope ladder during filming. The cheerful moments offered a sharp contrast to the high-stakes survival story portrayed on screen.

Reflecting on their experience, Mehwish referenced their characters, Zara and Wali, and revealed that the real story behind the cameras was filled with laughter rather than fear.

She wrote that while audiences saw the characters fighting for survival amid the zombie outbreak, the set itself was packed with fun memories, endless laughter, and Fahad Mustafa’s trademark sense of humor.

The actress went on to thank her co-star for bringing positive energy to every day of filming, affectionately describing him as the “most fun co-star” she could imagine surviving a zombie apocalypse with. According to Mehwish, the memories created during the project are ones she will cherish for years to come.

Fans were equally delighted by the friendly exchange that followed in the comments section. Fahad responded with a heartfelt message of appreciation, while Mehwish replied with a playful GIF calling him “my hero,” further highlighting the warm bond the two actors share off-screen.

The behind-the-scenes glimpse has only added to the excitement surrounding Zombeid, which remains in cinemas nationwide. The film has continued making headlines in recent weeks, particularly after Fahad Mustafa publicly urged authorities to ease austerity-related cinema timing restrictions in Punjab. His appeal was met with a positive response, leading to a relaxation of the curbs and providing a welcome boost for cinema owners and moviegoers alike.
