Could The Legend of Maula Jatt be making a comeback? Mahira Khan has seemingly opened that door with a nostalgic throwback post that has fans wondering if another chapter of the blockbuster could actually be on the way.

Four years after the film’s release, Mahira took a trip down memory lane by sharing a throwback post related to the epic Punjabi action film. But it was one particular line in her caption that immediately caught attention.
“Oh maybe we should do this again,” the actor wrote.
Mahira also tagged producer Ammara Hikmat and director Bilal Lashari in the post, making the seemingly casual suggestion even more interesting. While she did not officially announce a sequel, the remark was enough to send fans into speculation mode.
After all, The Legend of Maula Jatt is not just another successful Pakistani film. Released in cinemas in October 2022, the movie went on to become the highest-grossing Pakistani film of all time, turning its cast into even bigger household names and putting Pakistani cinema in the international spotlight.
Directed by Bilal Lashari, the film was a modern remake of the 1979 Punjabi classic Maula Jatt. It brought together an impressive ensemble cast, including Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi and Humaima Malick.
Mahira portrayed Mukkho, the love interest of Fawad Khan’s Maula Jatt. Her character brought an emotional dimension to a story otherwise packed with brutal rivalries, larger-than-life characters and intense action.
Lashari was deeply involved in the making of the film. Along with writing and directing it, he also served as its cinematographer and editor. Ammara Hikmat produced the ambitious project and had previously spoken about its larger purpose, describing it as a film intended to change the trajectory of the Pakistani film industry.
Considering the scale of the original film and its unprecedented box-office success, Mahira’s latest comment has naturally raised the question of whether the team could reunite for another installment.
For now, however, there is no official confirmation that The Legend of Maula Jatt 2 is in development. Mahira’s “maybe” remains exactly that — a tantalising possibility rather than a formal announcement.
Still, the idea of seeing the world of Maula Jatt return is enough to get fans talking. The original film left behind a massive fan following, and a sequel featuring its central stars would undoubtedly be one of the most anticipated Pakistani film projects.
Mahira has remained one of Pakistan’s most prominent screen stars since making her film debut with Bol in 2011. She shot to nationwide fame with the hugely popular drama Humsafar, which cemented her status as one of the country’s leading actresses.
Her career has also extended beyond Pakistan. Mahira appeared opposite Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan in Raees, playing Aasiya Qazi, the strong-willed and supportive wife of his character, Raees Alam.
More recently, she reunited with Fawad Khan for the 2025 romantic drama Neelofar. She also appeared alongside Humayun Saeed in Love Guru in 2025 and starred opposite Fahad Mustafa in Aag Lagay Basti Mein in 2026.
