Javed Shaikh Declines to Wear Makeup, Emphasizing Natural Look

In an industry where makeup is often considered essential on film sets, one actor has remained an unwavering exception for over five decades—Javed Sheikh. The legendary actor, known for his stellar performances in countless films and dramas, has never worn makeup, a choice that sets him apart from his peers.

During an appearance on After Hours with Ushna Shah, the Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum actor opened up about his refusal to wear makeup, even in situations where it is expected. When the host brought up his unique stance, saying, “I’ve heard you don’t wear makeup, even now you haven’t had a single touch-up,” Javed Sheikh confirmed with a smile, “Yes, never.”

He elaborated with a story from his time in Bollywood while working on his first Indian film, Shikar, alongside Shahid Kapoor. “On my first day, the crew asked me to come an hour early for makeup. I told them I don’t wear it. They insisted, saying it was mandatory, but I asked, ‘Is it written somewhere?’ When they argued that my face might shine on camera, I replied, ‘That’s prosperity!’”

The Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad actor’s disciplined approach to life is a significant factor in his timeless appearance and enduring energy. When asked about his secrets to staying fit and youthful, Sheikh emphasized the importance of maintaining discipline in every aspect of life. “It’s not just about food; it’s about having discipline in everything. For over 50 years, I’ve followed a strict routine. I sleep at least six hours, no less, because the body needs rest. People claim to feel fresh after just two or three hours, but the damage shows on the body over time.”

In the candid conversation, Sheikh also reflected on his personal life, sharing details about his marriages. “I was married twice. My first marriage was to the mother of my children, Momal. Then I married Salma Agha. Both marriages lasted around three years,” he revealed, without delving further into his private life.

Sheikh also shared his views on professionalism in the entertainment industry. He emphasized the importance of actors cooperating with producers to ensure their projects succeed. “It’s the actor’s responsibility to support the producer and protect their investment. I’ve always tried to be cooperative, even during challenging times. That’s why I’ve earned the respect of my peers,” he explained.
