Mustafa Zahid has given Salman Khan fans in Pakistan another reason to imagine what would happen if the Bollywood superstar ever set foot in Lahore.
The Pakistani singer recently found himself discussing Salman’s enormous popularity across the border when he made a lighthearted remark that quickly caught the attention of fans. According to Mustafa, the excitement surrounding a Salman Khan visit would be so overwhelming that Lahore might have no choice but to declare a public holiday.
Mustafa made the comment while speaking with Indian entertainment journalist Faridoon Shahryar about the popularity of artists in India and Pakistan. As the conversation turned toward Salman’s fan following, the singer laughed and said, “Main hamesha hansta hoon ke agar Salman Khan Lahore aa jaye toh Lahore mein toh public holiday announce karna hoga.”
In other words, Mustafa joked that Salman’s arrival would be such a major event that the entire city would have to take the day off.
But behind the joke, the singer also touched on something much deeper. Mustafa pointed out that political tensions between India and Pakistan do not necessarily erase the affection audiences have for artists they admire.
“Love for the art is really there. Log jisse pyaar karte hain, usse pyaar karte hain,” he said, emphasizing that people continue to love the artists and their work regardless of the political climate.
The remark soon made its way into fan discussions, with many people agreeing that Salman’s popularity in Pakistan extends far beyond the usual boundaries of cinema.
One amused fan took Mustafa’s joke even further, writing, “Sirf Lahore mein nahi, poore Pakistan mein karna parega,” suggesting that it would not be just Lahore but the entire country that would need a holiday if Salman ever arrived.
