Actor and filmmaker Yasir Hussain has openly come to the defense of popular morning-show host Nida Yasir after she issued an on-air apology addressing her recent remarks about food-delivery riders, comments that quickly went viral and sparked wide criticism.
Sharing a clip of Nida’s apology on his Instagram story, Yasir applauded her long-standing command over live television. He affectionately crowned her the “queen of live shows,” noting that anyone who spends decades speaking unfiltered and unrehearsed on live TV is bound to slip up occasionally.
He added that “live bolna bacchon ka khel nahi” - a reminder that spontaneous dialogue on-air comes with its own pressures and pitfalls.
The conversation erupted when an earlier segment from Nida’s morning show resurfaced online. In the clip, she recalled an incident with a delivery rider who didn’t have change, suggesting that such behavior is common among riders and joking that she sometimes makes them wait so they “learn” to carry change. The comments were widely criticised as insensitive, especially given the tough working conditions riders face daily.
