Pakistani actor and comedian Yasir Hussain has replied to remarks made about him by celebrity makeup artist Akif Ilyas, who recently discussed their past connection and criticised Hussain's style of comedy.
Ilyas, who has collaborated with many prominent figures in Pakistan's entertainment industry, discussed Hussain during an appearance on Nadia Khan's show. According to Ilyas, Hussain would contact him very early in his career and ask him to help build his portfolio. He also alleged that Hussain later mocked his appearance, style and friendships during a live awards show.
Ilyas likewise questioned the standard of humour in Pakistan and said younger comedians could learn from performers such as the late Moin Akhtar, arguing that comedy should not come at the expense of others.
These remarks sparked reactions online, with social media users debating Ilyas' comments and Hussain's reply.
Reacting to the viral clip, Hussain recognised Ilyas' contribution to his early career and said he had known him for many years.
