In December 2022, Babrik Shah lost his youngest son, Zaviyar Shah, in an unfortunate drowning incident that happened in his residential colony in Lahore.
Recently, Babrik Shah was a guest on Fuchsia Magazine, where he opened up about his son’s tragedy and how his life was affected following his death.
Babrik Shah shared, ”There is a very strange thing about my son. When my wife was pregnant for the fourth time, she used to drink a lot of water and eat a lot of ice, and surprisingly, my 4th son died in a drowning incident. Also, it was Ramzan when he passed away. I keenly observe such things; he was born on the 21st of Ramzan, which was the day of Hazrat Ali’s Shahdat. It was a clue for me that I didn’t think about then, but after his death, I realized all these things and connected the dots later. Then, gradually, I found patience over the loss—that whatever Allah has given belongs to Him. Normally, children bury their parents, but this time I had to bury my son, because parents always want their children to survive. He was a very intelligent guy. I didn’t leave my house for six months; it was another fall that I had to overcome, which is why I said on the show that I am raw gold—it’s not easy to change me. I developed this comic side because it was my way to divert my wife’s pain. I used to do these comic antics at home to distract her because she used to cry alone in her room at night. We all have our fair share of grief in our lives. Sabar (patience) is the key to success. My uncle, who also lost his young son, advised me: ‘Your son belonged to Allah, who has taken him back.'”
