Hasan Raheem is taking his Coke Studio sound to a new international audience as his popular track “Peechay Hutt” features in Netflix’s latest dance comedy, Best of the Best.

The Pakistani singer’s 2022 hit is part of the film’s Bollywood-fusion soundtrack, placing Raheem’s music alongside a mix of South Asian and international artists. The movie began streaming on Netflix on September 18 and revolves around two childhood best friends who find themselves chasing a place on UCLA’s highly competitive Bollywood-fusion dance team.

Directed by Lena Khan, Best of the Best follows Maya, played by Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, and Anjali, portrayed by Priyanka Kedia, as they navigate friendship, sisterhood and the pressures that come with competing at the college level. Hasan Minhaj also stars in the film as Professor Hamza Latif.

For Pakistani music fans, however, one of the soundtrack’s notable moments comes from “Peechay Hutt,” which originally became part of Coke Studio Season 14 in 2022. Raheem performed the track with Justin Bibis and Talal Qureshi, creating a song that quickly stood out for its energetic vocals, electronic production and instantly recognizable hook.

Released on February 19, 2022, “Peechay Hutt” has continued to attract listeners years after its Coke Studio debut. Its official music video has now crossed 28 million views on YouTube, reflecting the song’s lasting reach.

Raheem is credited as the writer of the song, while the track’s narrative was developed by Raheem and Xulfi. Talal Qureshi and Xulfi handled its composition, arrangement and production, with Qureshi also contributing to the hook. The finished track combines Raheem’s distinctive vocal style with Justin Bibis’ chorus and Qureshi’s electronic sound, all built around the repetitive “Peechay Hutt” refrain.

Its inclusion in Best of the Best also places the Pakistani track in a soundtrack featuring a wide range of musical names. The film brings together songs connected to artists such as BLACKPINK, ENHYPEN, Hanumankind and A.R. Rahman, alongside Pakistani and other South Asian music and international pop and hip-hop selections.

The soundtrack fits naturally into a story centered on Bollywood-fusion dance, where different musical influences come together on the same stage. Netflix describes the film as a story about friendship, sisterhood and self-acceptance, with its characters discovering what it takes to stay true to themselves while pursuing their ambitions.
