Pakistani actor and model Khaqan Shahnawaz weighed in on Pakistan-India tensions, urging both nations to focus on real challenges instead of fighting each other.
In a video message posted on Instagram, the rising star called on the public to shift its attention to pressing problems.
“A few months ago, during the war hype between Pakistan and India, people in both countries made memes,” he said. “Indians joked, ‘We will stop Pakistan’s water, how did you take a bath?’ Meanwhile, Pakistanis replied, ‘Let the monsoon come, with water from India, a lot more will come.’”
Shahnawaz pointed out that nature itself responded when monsoon rains caused destruction across both countries. “The monsoon came, and the devastation forced both nations to give and take. The real war between Pakistan and India is not with each other but with poverty — and in the coming days, it will be against climate change,” he emphasized.
He urged cooperation over hostility, stressing, “Instead of making memes, mocking religions, or attacking each other’s countries, we must sit together and find solutions to climate change. Otherwise, in a year, neither India nor Pakistan will remain — only memes will remain on the internet.”
