Mohammad Amir could be heading towards an unexpected chapter in his cricket career, with reports suggesting that the former Pakistan fast bowler may register for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2027 auction. He now holds a British passport and residing in England, Amir could potentially become eligible for the tournament despite the long-standing restrictions on Pakistani players.
According to an Indian media outlet, the left-arm pacer is considering putting his name forward for the auction, scheduled to take place on December 16 in Goa. The reports come shortly after Amir registered for the Afghanistan Premier League (APL), adding to speculation about his plans to explore opportunities in franchise cricket.
The possibility has attracted attention because Pakistani cricketers have remained absent from the IPL since the competition's inaugural season in 2008. Political tensions between India and Pakistan have prevented players from the neighbouring country from featuring in subsequent editions of the lucrative T20 tournament.
