Superstar Fawad Khan is not just Pakistan’s beloved actor; he’s also one of its most private. The notoriously low-key star rarely uses social media, only logging on occasionally to promote his projects.
Recently, Fawad appeared on a comedy show alongside fellow A-lister Mahira Khan to hype their upcoming film Neelofer. During the segment, a fan asked the question many have wondered: “Why don’t we see you more on social media?”
After the host joked about Fawad lacking Wi-Fi at home, the actor gave a sincere response. “I hesitate to answer this because so many people are active on social media, and I don’t want to offend anyone,” he said. He then clarified his stance: “I’m just not fond of it. If I meet fans in person and they want to talk, I’d be thrilled to chat with them—happily.”
Fawad opened up further about his hesitation: “I worry I’d get addicted to social media, so I prefer to keep it out of my life.” When the host pressed if that’s the core reason he stays away, Fawad got serious: “Yes. I’m an emotional person, and once you’re active on these platforms, it’s hard to control yourself.”
His co-star Mahira, who looked elegant in a pink sari that complemented Fawad’s pink shawl, stands in contrast as an active social media user—boasting 11.7 million Instagram followers.
Slated for release on November 28, Neelofer has been stuck in production for years. The highly anticipated romantic film stars Fawad, Mahira, and Madeeha Imam. Fawad also serves as a co-producer, with Adnan Rasool handling writing and direction.
