Why The Legend of Maula Jatt Left Babar Ali Disappointed
The Legend of Maula Jatt made waves in the entertainment industry, becoming a box office hit with over 600 crores earned. However, one of its stars, Babar Ali, was disappointed by the removal of a powerful scene.
During an appearance on After Hours, host Ushna Shah asked Babar about the cut line. Babar Ali explained, “I was supposed to deliver the line, ‘Maulay Nu Maula Na Maray Te Maula Nahin Marda,’ with intense emotion. My character was at a breaking point, with blood flowing, my wife gone, and my son under attack. That moment was written in blood, and now, with the film’s success, it would have been even more impactful.”
While Babar appreciates the film’s success, he still regrets the cut. “Hearing about the film’s reception makes me happy, but there’s a lingering pain. That scene would have added a legendary moment, and it was just incredible,” he shared.
Babar also praised director Bilal Lashari, saying, “His skill is undeniable. Working with him was important to me, and that line would have made the father-son legacy even more powerful.”
Released on October 13, 2022, The Legend of Maula Jatt was written by Nasir Adeeb and directed by Lashari.
