Pakistan is working to bring its films and television dramas to a wider international audience, with the government confirming talks with Netflix and other major streaming platforms.
Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal announced the move while highlighting the popularity of Pakistani entertainment across South Asia, the Gulf and overseas communities.
In a post on X, Iqbal said Pakistani dramas and films were capable of competing globally and could become an important part of the country’s export strategy under the Uraan Pakistan initiative.
He noted that platforms such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video provide major access to international viewers, but said regional politics had limited opportunities for Pakistani content.
The government is now seeking fairer access and long-term partnerships for local filmmakers, producers, actors and other creative professionals.
