Reema Khan criticizes media for personal questions about artists

Reema

Renowned Pakistani film icon Reema Khan has shared her perspective on the recent public controversies involving actresses Meera and Resham, as well as the increasingly intrusive conduct of media hosts toward artists.

In an interview with a private television program, Reema expressed concern that hosts and podcasters in Pakistan often cross professional boundaries, asking invasive personal questions rather than focusing on an artist’s craft.

She stressed that artists should be evaluated based on their talent and body of work, not their private lives, warning that such sensationalism ultimately harms both the guests and the credibility of the platforms. Regarding Meera, Reema voiced disappointment at the line of questioning directed at her, calling it damaging to the industry.

Speaking about Resham, Reema complimented her dignified manner of expression and wished her well, while also advising her to assess situations independently rather than accepting hearsay.

Throughout the conversation, Reema emphasized the collective responsibility to respect artists and value their contributions, steering clear of unnecessary personal scrutiny.

Reema Khan, often called the “Queen of Lollywood,” is one of Pakistan’s most celebrated and influential film actresses. Debuting in the 1990s, she quickly rose to stardom with her captivating screen presence, appearing in over 200 Urdu and Punjabi films, including massive hits like Bulandi(1990) and Love 95(1997). Beyond acting, Reema expanded her influence as a producer and director, most notably with the critically and commercially successful film Koi Tujh Sa Kahan(2005), which earned her Lux Style Awards for both Best Actress and Best Film.
