A growing generational divide is emerging in Pakistan’s entertainment industry, highlighted by veteran actor Saba Faisal in a recent interview on PTV Home’s Star & Style.
She recalled learning through observation and guidance from seniors—a mentorship culture she says has now faded. Today, she noted, advice is often met with defensiveness, and correction is perceived as condescension.
Faisal’s sentiments are echoed by other seasoned actors, who point to issues of discipline among newcomers—such as unpunctuality, unpreparedness, and a lack of focus on set. Actor Syed Mohammad Ahmed lamented the loss of basic professional courtesy, stating he no longer feels empowered to correct younger artists.
However, younger actors voice their own challenges. Under constant public and social media scrutiny, they sometimes face what they describe as public shaming or dismissive treatment from seniors—criticism that feels more like resentment than guidance. Alizeh Shah and Nazish Jahangir are among those who have pointed to the need for respectful communication.
