Hasan Raheem’s concert in Toronto on May 9, 2026, transformed from a solo performance into an unexpected cross-border spectacle when Indian artist Talwiinder made a surprise appearance on stage.

The two artists performed their 2023 collaboration “Wishes” together for the very first time live, and later danced to Abrar-ul-Haq’s hit track “Nach Punjaban,” electrifying the audience.

During the performance, Hasan Raheem openly displayed his camaraderie with Talwiinder, pointing at him and telling the crowd, “He is my brother from another mother,” before the two shared a hug amid loud cheers from the audience. Addressing the crowd while gesturing between himself and Talwiinder, Raheem added, “We have a lot to talk about, we will do that later but this night is for you guys. Make some noise for Talwiinder.” He further emphasized their bond by stating, “Only a brother comes for another brother like this. Nobody else does, son.” For his part, Talwiinder confirmed to the crowd that this marked their first live performance together.

The moment quickly gained massive traction online, with fans hailing the collaboration as “a musical collab we didn’t know we needed.” One social media user commented that seeing the two dance to “Nach Punjaban” was not on their “2026 bingo card,” while another suggested that such artistic unions made “South Asia reunification” feel possible. Some fans expressed extreme FOMO (fear of missing out), with one posting that they were “shaking, crying, throwing up” at having missed the Toronto show.

However, the event was not without controversy, as Hasan Raheem’s past tweet from May 2025 resurfaced online. The tweet, which read, “Don’t come back again, bro. Our side doesn’t take much time to shoot down planes” – a reference to cross-border military tensions – drew sharp criticism from Indian users. Some questioned why Talwiinder was “vibing with a Pakistani,” while others accused the artists of lacking a “spine” and prioritizing “PR photos” and financial gain over national sentiments.

Discussions about a potential boycott of Talwiinder in India emerged, with critics claiming these celebrities “don’t give a damn about Indian sentiments or our martyrs.” While many viewers celebrated the “wildcard entry” and the energetic performance, others remained focused on debating whether Punjabi artists should maintain such close ties across the border in light of Raheem’s previous mockery of “Operation Sindoor.”
