Filmmaker Wajahat Rauf has expressed pride in his son Aashir Wajahat’s growing popularity, joking that their relationship now feels like “reverse nepotism” because people often recognise him as Aashir’s father.
In a recent interview, Rauf said he is happy that Aashir has built his own identity in music and acting. He shared that after Aashir’s song Sadqay became popular and his drama Kafeel gained attention, fans began approaching Aashir more than him.
Rauf described his son as grounded and focused on creativity rather than fame, ratings or trends. He added that Aashir has also started taking interest in the storytelling process of his films.
The filmmaker said he and his wife always encouraged their children to follow their passions while taking education seriously. He said Aashir had been interested in acting since childhood, but he is glad success came to him later and on his own terms.
