Veteran Pakistani actor Bushra Ansari has candidly addressed the culture of age-shaming and rising online negativity, framing it as a symptom of a wider social ailment.
Speaking in a recent YouTube interview, Ansari observed that society has grown increasingly uneasy with aging, often mocking it. "We are not telling anyone what to do, but this is not just happening here, it is everywhere. The whole society seems to be suffering from a kind of disease," she reflected.
Recalling the criticism she has faced, the actor challenged why growing older is treated as an insult. She shared that she once replied sharply to a derogatory comment out of frustration, stating that aging is a natural, universal process. Ansari expressed pride in her lifelong career and the characters she has portrayed. "We started our careers being called 'bhabhi' or 'apa'. We worked while raising children, and we were happy doing that," she said, adding that such titles never bothered her.
She highlighted a deeper concern about fading values, remarking, "I think respect is a word that holds great meaning, but people are beginning to forget it."
