celebraties

As Eid celebrations unfold across Pakistan, celebrities are sharing personal traditions and messages that reflect the holiday’s core themes of family, gratitude, and compassion.

Speaking with Express Tribune Actor Hira Mani offered a candid glimpse into her Eid routine, emphasising the importance of family time after a busy Ramazan. “Mehendi, bangles, sheer khurma, that’s my Eid festival. Please don’t disturb me,” she said humorously, adding that she looks forward to spending the day with both her in-laws and her own family.

Reflecting on societal perceptions, she remarked, “People say Eid is for a certain age, but Eid has nothing to do with maturity. We should celebrate it with happiness.” She also shared a lighthearted take on marriage, saying she enjoys seeing couples shop together: “Husbands holding bags while wives shop ,there’s no better scene than that.”

Mani started her career as a video jockey before moving on to hosting. She co-hosted the Hum 2 Hamara Show on Hum TV with Mani, which earned her critical recognition, and they both followed it with the Hira Mani Show (2010). Hira made her acting debut along with her husband Mani in ARY Digital’s Meri Teri Kahani (2012). The show was inspired by the American series Curb Your Enthusiasm. Both (Mani and Hira) appeared as fictionalized versions of themselves.

Model and entrepreneur Nadia Hussain highlighted the simple joys of Eid, saying the day revolves around family gatherings and visiting loved ones. “It’s all about meeting family, a typical Eid atmosphere,” she said, adding that preparations from mehendi to bangles, pick up pace after iftar, with Chand Raat marking the start of festivities.

She was born in the United Kingdom. At the age of four, she came to Karachi. Hussain started her career in modelling in 2000, just after she had completed her A-levels. She was the only Pakistani model to have been chosen by Rizwan Beyg for the Sarajevo Fashion Week.

Adding to the fashion conversation, actor Ilma Jaffery shared how trends like Kashmiri bangles and farshi kurtas dominated this Eid season. “At first, I wasn’t planning to buy bangles, but since it became such a strong trend, I went for it too, fashion should be taken as fashion,” she said.

Speaking about her Eid routine, she added, “Chand Raat itself feels like Eid we get dressed up, apply mehendi and celebrate. On Eid day, we visit my mother-in-law’s house, take pictures, meet family and enjoy food together.” Highlighting the festive spirit, she remarked that Eid should be celebrated wholeheartedly: “Eid comes once and it’s a gift from Allah, so we shouldn’t be stingy, everyone should celebrate according to their means.”

Veteran actor Adnan Siddiqui used the occasion to spread a message of unity and forgiveness. “Eid Mubarak to everyone , it’s a time of happiness, so end your grievances and celebrate together,” he said. “Eid is the reward for your Ramazan ibadat, so celebrate it according to your means.” He added with a smile, “I have to give a lot of Eidi this time.”

Adnan has appeared in many commercials and drama serials, including Aroosa, Pal Do Pal, Meri Adhoori Mohabbat, Meri Zaat Zara-e-Benishan, Doraha, Hawa Rait Aur Aangan, Choti Si Kahani, Vasl and Parsa. Siddiqui first started his filming career in the 1990s; he became notable for being cast in the popular drama Uroosa and one of the famous travel reality shows of the time Gulls & Guys directed by Shoaib Mansoor. In 2002, he was nominated for Best Actor (TV) in the Lux Style Awards and was its red carpet host.

Meanwhile, actor Shamoon Abbasi called for a more reflective celebration in light of global circumstances. “We should celebrate this Eid simply, because there are wars in the world and people are suffering,” he said, offering prayers for peace. “May Allah protect everyone, bless Pakistan and grant happiness to all.”

Adding a spiritual note, actor Maya Ali shared a heartfelt message as Ramazan drew to a close. “Alhamdulillah for reaching the last Roza of this blessed Ramazan. May Allah accept all our ibadat, fasts, and duas. Ameen,” she wrote, urging people to carry forward the values of kindness and empathy beyond the holy month. She also prayed for those facing hardships, encouraging others to “continue doing good, helping those in need and remembering everyone in our happiness.”
