Director Musaddiq Malek On How He Would Have Executed Dayan

Musaddiq Malek is an emerging Pakistani television director who began his career as an assistant director for Six Sigma Productions. He assisted Jawani Phir Nahi Aani, Mere Paas Tum Ho and many other popular dramas. Musaddiq got praise for directing two hit dramas Habs and Noor Jahan. He has also co-directed drama serial Farrar. The director has acted in multiple hit shows including Alif, Mere Paas Tum Ho and Noor Jahan. He will soon be seen in ARY Digital’s mega project Main Manto Nahi Hoon.

This week, Musaddiq Malek hosted 24 News HD’s drama review show Kya Drama Hai. During the show, he revealed that he is watching the drama serial Dayan with interest and that Mehwish Hayat is his all-time favourite star. He also discussed the changes that could make Dayan more intriguing.

In response to Atiqa Odho’s question, “You are the director yourself — how would you have executed Dayan?”, Musaddiq said, “First of all, I would have cast someone else in place of Mehwish for first half, to make it more believable, or I would have given her prosthetics that would not make her look so adorable in others’ eyes — because we loved Nihal since the very begining. I would have made her look different. Also, how can eyesight be fixed through plastic surgery? Okay, LASIK can also be done but it could have been done differently because the story had a commercial Maula Jatt-style feel so it had to be hit however it needed more realism. The story is perfect, but it could have been given a different, more modern approach — like a Gen Z style.”

Mere Paas Tum Ho 2 In The Making? The Rumors Stir Excitement

It’s been five years since Mere Paas Tum Ho first took Pakistani television by storm—and now, whispers of a sequel have fans both thrilled and cautious. The record-breaking drama, penned by the ever-controversial Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar and directed by Nadeem Baig, set unprecedented benchmarks in TRPs and viewership, with its finale alone drawing over 79.6 million viewers. Now, speculations around Mere Paas Tum Ho 2 are heating up after ARY Digital’s CEO Jerjees Seja reignited the conversation online.

The moment came when Seja directly tagged producer-actor Humayun Saeed and director Nadeem Baig in an Instagram story, writing, “Should we go for Mere Paas Tum Ho 2?”—a casual yet calculated move that instantly set social media ablaze. The fact that Humayun Saeed reshared the post only added more fuel to the fire. With fan pages and drama forums buzzing, it’s safe to say that curiosity has been officially piqued.

But while the excitement is real, so is the skepticism. After all, the original story ended with the tragic death of Danish, the character that became synonymous with Humayun Saeed himself. Director Nadeem Baig was quick to acknowledge this in a statement, suggesting that though Danish’s story is over, the original team might still create something even bigger with Saeed. Meanwhile, Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar, who had previously hinted at the possibility of a sequel, maintained that any such move would only happen under immense fan or network pressure.

As expected, the fan response is a mixed bag. While many are nostalgic and eager for Mere Paas Tum Ho 2, others are urging the creators not to tamper with what they consider a “complete masterpiece.” There’s even a split on casting—some demand the same team, while others suggest a fresh ensemble to explore a new storyline altogether.
