Actor Faysal Qureshi has called on the government to safeguard Pakistan’s entertainment industry, warning that policies favouring foreign productions could damage local content creation and threaten thousands of livelihoods.
In a video shared on Instagram, Qureshi said industry professionals speak up because they are concerned about the future of the sector and want coming generations to benefit from its growth.
He said criticism of certain policies should not be treated as opposition, but as constructive feedback aimed at strengthening the industry.
The actor welcomed recent steps taken by the federal, Punjab, and Sindh governments to support local entertainment projects. However, he raised concerns over measures that appear to offer greater benefits to international productions, including the removal of taxes on foreign projects while local producers continue to face difficulties.
Qureshi noted that Pakistani dramas have earned global recognition and are watched in countries including India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Azerbaijan, and Turkey. He said this success reflects the hard work of Pakistani actors, writers, directors, production teams, and other creative professionals.
