Pakistan’s first-ever reality dating show, Lazawal Ishq, has finally hit screens and the reactions are just as dramatic as the concept itself. It is marketed as an experiment in local entertainment; the show made its premiere on YouTube with actress Ayesha Omar stepping into the role of host. The show is set against the picturesque backdrop of a villa in Turkey, the show brings together eight contestants, four men and four women, all searching for what the makers call “forever love.”

While the idea promised freshness, the first episode has already become a hot topic of controversy. Viewers watched as Ayesha Omar introduced the participants and guided their initial conversations, where they openly shared likes, dislikes, and first impressions. Despite clocking over 128,000 views within days, social media remains divided, some appreciating the “new experiment,” while others criticise the format as too bold for Pakistani audiences.
Unfazed by the backlash, Ayesha Omar has openly addressed the criticism directed at Lazawal Ishq. Taking to Instagram, the star revealed that her mother’s feedback is what truly matters to her and she loved the show.
“Did my mum like the first episode? Bilkul!” Ayesha wrote, sharing a candid moment from behind the scenes with the female contestants. She explained that her mother found the interactions “refreshing and healthy,” as they offered a window into how today’s youth express themselves in matters of love and relationships.
