Mathira Reveals Reason Behind Growing Depression and Anxiety Among Pakistanis

Mathira

Pakistani host Mathira recently shared her thoughts on marriage and relationships during a podcast, voicing concerns about society’s perception of them. She expressed her worry over the commercialization of marriages in Pakistan, remarking, “Marriages have turned into business contracts, where parents place more importance on wealth and status than on true connections.”

Mathira highlighted that the rapid changes in Pakistani society have contributed to increasing immorality and illicit relationships among the youth, leading to widespread issues. She stated, “Everyone in Pakistan is suffering from depression and anxiety because they are burdened with taking on others’ responsibilities.”

When discussing marital relationships, Mathira stressed the importance of mutual respect and understanding. She remarked, “It’s foolish to believe that a wife or husband should be left alone when they are angry or anxious. Instead, they need explanation, time, and understanding.”

She also criticized the growing trend of marriages ending over small disagreements. Mathira observed that “with more options available, people quickly seek alternatives,” adding that young girls are often involved with married men. She questioned their motives, asking, “Why are you behind married men when you’re so young?”

Finally, she criticized superficial standards in marriage, warning that “this flawed mindset needs to be changed.” Mathira highlighted the need for deeper connections beyond looks and wealth to create healthier relationships.
