Pakistani Celebrities Unite in Outrage Over Balochistan Honour Killing

Pakistan’s entertainment industry has risen in solidarity and sorrow following a brutal honour killing incident in Dagari, Balochistan. A couple was shot dead at close range after being dragged into a desert by a group of men, reportedly on the orders of a tribal jirga. The entire nation was shaken after a disturbing video of the killing surfaced online, sparking outrage , especially among the country’s celebrities.
Leading voices in the entertainment world are using their platforms to condemn the violence and express grief over what they call a “betrayal of humanity.”
Actress Hania Aamir, known for her vocal advocacy on women’s issues, posted a powerful message on Instagram:
“If women were to start killing for honour, no man would remain.”
Her statement quickly gained traction as it bluntly addressed the deeply patriarchal mindset underlying such crimes.
Tamkenat Mansoor, echoing public fury, wrote:
“This society hates women.”
Her comment mirrored the growing sentiment that gender-based violence remains largely unchecked in many parts of Pakistan.
Veteran actor Nauman Ijaz called the killing “deeply disturbing and heart-wrenching,” adding that such incidents reflect a “raw betrayal of basic human values.”
Ahsan Khan, who has previously highlighted social issues through his work, said he wished education were more accessible. “This is not just about violence. It’s about a lack of education and tolerance,” he stated.
Model Hira Khan mourned the loss with a heartfelt prayer for the victims, ending her message with:
“We failed you, and so many others.”
Talhah Yunus of Young Stunners used his Instagram stories to raise awareness, urging his followers to pay attention to the crisis of honour-based violence in the country.
The Balochistan incident is not an isolated case. From January to November 2024, Pakistan recorded 346 honour killings, underlining the systemic nature of these crimes. Cultural codes rooted in ‘honour’ and shame continue to endanger lives, especially of women, across the nation.
While justice remains elusive, celebrities have stepped in as powerful voices, demanding accountability and a cultural reckoning.
