Why Did Salma Hassan Choose Her Daughter Over Marriage?

Salma Hassan

Healing sometimes outweighs moving on. While appearing as a guest on Subh Samma Kay Sath, actress Salma Hassan revealed why she chose to focus on her daughter rather than remarrying after divorcing Afzal Ali.

Host Madeha Naqvi asked, “Did you ever consider moving on or remarrying?” Hassan responded, “I think it’s about finding someone and wanting to find someone. Maybe I never even tried.”

She elaborated, “When trust is broken, it feels like a shock. You start reflecting on yourself, questioning if you’re good enough. It brings a sense of inferiority that takes time to overcome.”

Currently, she is starring in Jaan Se Pyara Juni and Bharam.

Her filmography includes movies like The Giraffe, Baron 3D, Garmee, XXL, and telefilms such as Bubbly Darling, Saiyaan Motorwalay, and Romantic Razia.

Earlier, Salma Hassan appeared on Hasna Mana Hai with host Tabish Hashmi, where she addressed societal taboos around divorce.

The host asked, “In our society, divorce is considered taboo. People who divorce often avoid seeing or speaking to each other. Yet, you and Afzal continued working together after your divorce. Doesn’t that feel awkward?”

Salma replied, “I was told this is haraam and asked, ‘How can you work with your ex-husband?’ But I’m an actress, and I’d work with anyone. For our daughter’s sake, I want to maintain a good relationship with her father.”

Interestingly, Salma Hassan also revealed that her first language isn’t Urdu. While appearing on Toh Set Hai with Aadi Adeal Amjad, she shared, “Urdu is not my mother tongue. My mom was part British. My mother tongue is actually English. My maternal grandmother was British.”

Despite this, Salma’s Urdu diction and accent remain flawless, proving her dedication to her craft.
