Saud Qasmi Blames Shaan and Syed Noor for Lollywood’s Decline

In a promotional video for Excuse Me with Ahmad Ali Butt, actor and producer Saud Qasmi openly criticized Shaan and Syed Noor, blaming them for Lollywood’s decline.
“Shaan and Syed Noor have hurt Lollywood,” Saud stated, adding that while others contributed, these two played significant roles. Laughing, he continued, “Instead of finding faults in others, you should focus on your own faults.”
Saud’s remarks quickly ignited an online debate. Defenders of Shaan, one of Pakistan’s iconic film stars, praised his contributions, with one user calling him “the one and only superstar in Pakistan.” Others, however, supported Saud, agreeing that his criticism had merit.
This isn’t the first time Saud has voiced his opinions on the entertainment industry. In February 2024, he revealed on Sahiba’s talk show that he refrains from acting in his productions, preferring to give opportunities to others. Reflecting on his hit series Yeh Zindagi Hai, he lamented the lack of acknowledgment from those he helped elevate, saying, “Those whom I gave work to don’t even take my name. So many have been propelled forward because of my dramas.”
Saud Qasmi in the Film Industry
Saud traces his lineage to the Siddiqi family, rooted in the town of Nanauta, Uttar Pradesh, India, which has significantly contributed to Islamic scholarship. His great-great-grandfather, Muhammad Qasim Nanautawi, co-founded the influential Deobandi movement, while his great-grandfather, Hafiz Muhammad Ahmad, was a respected scholar. His father, Zahir Qasim, gained fame as a qari and naat khawan through his work with Radio Pakistan, and his uncles, the late Shakir Qasmi and Waheed Zafar Qasmi, have also made notable contributions in these fields.
A hafiz-e-Quran himself, Saud married TV actress Javeria Jalil (now Javeria Saud) on December 25, 2006. The couple has two children: a daughter, Jannat, born in 2007, and a son, Ibrahim, born in 2011.
Additionally, one of Saud’s cousins in India is married to the sister of actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
