Honey Singh: ‘I Was an Atheist, Then Learned About Islam’
Bollywood rapper Honey Singh revealed that he learned about Islamic teachings during a recent interview with Indian media.
“Most of the information about me online is false, but I didn’t correct it because I was waiting for the right time,” he shared while discussing his personal life.
Honey Singh recounted his journey, explaining, “I used to play tabla at home, and when my father enrolled me in a school in Punjab, I continued playing. But at 12, I abandoned both the tabla and my religion, becoming an atheist. I learned about Hinduism from my spiritual guru and Sikhism from my upbringing, but after becoming an atheist, I chose not to believe in religion while still studying it.”
He described how, after moving to Mohali in 2007, he wasn’t yet famous and had no work, just producing music. “During that time, I had the chance to learn about Islam from scholars and mystics. Even though I studied Islam, I still considered myself an atheist.”
He recalled sitting with scholars and asking difficult questions, always receiving answers. “I was just an ordinary boy asking tough questions, but they always provided explanations.”
Honey Singh revealed that after gaining fame in 2011, instead of being grateful to the Almighty, he got involved with destructive influences, which negatively impacted his life and mind. In 2018, after battling illness, he abandoned atheism and embraced faith.
