Pakistani actor Saba Faisal has issued a public apology after facing intense backlash over her remarks about brides choosing their wedding outfits independently. The comments, made during a morning show appearance, triggered widespread criticism from social media users and fellow celebrities alike.
In a video shared on Instagram, Faisal addressed the controversy and admitted that her choice of words had been inappropriate. She clarified that her statement was misunderstood due to poor wording and insisted she never intended to offend or undermine brides.
According to Faisal, her core message revolved around mutual understanding within families. She explained that harmonious family relationships often require both sides to overlook minor differences rather than magnify them. Acknowledging her mistake, she admitted she should have used softer expressions such as “ignore” or “overlook” instead of the word that caused outrage.
The actor further claimed that many critics reacted without watching the full interview. She maintained that her opinion was rooted in blending traditions rather than enforcing control. Faisal explained that when a bride enters a new household, she brings her own upbringing and values, which may naturally differ from those of her in-laws.
She added that families often wish for a sense of harmony in lifestyle and appearance, which is why mothers-in-law or sisters-in-law sometimes lovingly participate in creating wedding wardrobes. However, Faisal stressed that she never suggested brides should be forced to wear outfits chosen solely by their in-laws.
