Reham Rafiq Draws Backlash After Dance Video Goes Viral

Reham Rafiq

Pakistani television actress Reham Rafiq, known for her roles in dramas like Jhoom, Kaffara, Judwaa, and currently Parwarish, has been actively pursuing her passion for dance for years.

She is earning praise for her performance in Parwarish on ARY Digital, with many viewers appreciating her acting. Reham also maintains a strong social media presence, with 340K followers on Instagram and 918K on TikTok.

However, Reham recently faced intense backlash after a video of her dancing at the Youth Festival Dance Competition 2016 went viral. In the clip, she performs to a western song while wearing a casual grey and black outfit. Shared with the caption, “Do you know her?” the video has sparked widespread criticism online.

Viewers, particularly fans of Judwaa, reacted with surprise upon recognizing Reham—who played Rakhshi in the drama. Comments ranged from disapproval to personal attacks, with users expressing disappointment and questioning her character. Some remarked, “She’s been like this since the beginning,” while others criticized what they perceived as a contradiction between her public image and the video’s content.

‘The Glassworker’ Makes History As Pakistan’s First Animated Submission To Oscars

Usman Riaz

Pakistan’s first-ever hand-drawn animated feature film, ‘The Glassworker’ written by Usman Riaz, has been selected for the animated films category among other eligible flicks for the 97th Academy Awards.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced on Thursday that 31 animated features, 169 documentaries, and 85 international films stand eligible for Oscar nominations this year, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

A production of Geo Films in collaboration with Mano Animation Studios, The Glassworker’s inclusion as the first animated submission to the Oscars from Pakistan marks a historic moment for the country.

In the animated feature category, the film finds itself competing with industry giants such as Pixar’s Inside Out 2, already celebrated as the highest-grossing animated film of all time, and DreamWorks Animation’s The Wild Robot.

Other significant contenders include Kung Fu Panda 4, Despicable Me 4, and the Japanese entry Kensuke’s Kingdom.

‘The Glassworker’ took 10 years in the making and was critically acclaimed by enthralled viewers for every filmmaking aspect — from storytelling and cinematography to music, composing, art, animation, and voice-over performances.

It takes the viewers through the story of a young boy named “Vincent” and his father “Tomas”, running a fine glass workshop in the country. That is when they find their lives uprooted by an impending war in which they do not want to participate.

Earlier, the film was officially selected for the 2025 Oscars in the International Feature Film category, alongside entries from 84 nations, including India’s Laapata Ladies, directed by Kiran Rao.

Palestine’s submission, From Ground Zero, has also secured a place on the list.

This year’s competition features several critically acclaimed works, such as France’s Emilia Pérez, Germany’s The Seed of the Sacred Fig, and Brazil’s I’m Still Here.

The shortlists for these categories are set to be revealed on 17 December, narrowing the field before the final nominations, which will be announced on 23 January 2025.

Mishi Khan Speaks Out Against Rise In Leaked Video Trends

Mishi Khan

Mishi Khan a renowned Pakistani TV actor and host, has been hosting the morning show on Khyber TV for approximately twelve years. She gained fame through her notable performances in dramas such as “Uroosa”, “Ajaib Gher”, “Boota From Toba Tek Singh”, “Khala Khairan”, “Saat Pardon Main”, “PNS Ghazi Shaheed”, “Sherdil Beyond The Skies”, “Samandar Hai Darmiyaan”, “Nanhi”, and more. Mishi also made her mark in the hit Pakistani film “Janaan”.

Known for her thoughtful and opinionated personality, Mishi Khan recently spoke out against the growing trend of leaked videos. She addressed the issue following the viral spread of private videos involving TikTokers Minahil Malik and Imsha Rehman on social media.

Talking about it, Mishi Khan said, “It is quite an alarming trend to leak private videos of influencers and TikTokers. Whoever is doing that will be punished by Allah, but I would like to request all the girls to stop sharing their personal pictures and videos with anyone; don’t fall into any trap, even if you are engaged to someone and are going to get married to him soon. How can you guys trust people and send pictures and videos to the boys like this? Girls do that and then they get blackmailed; many even tried to commit suicide. Previously, we saw the leaked videos of a TikToker. Now, there is a girl from Gilgit Baltistan facing the same situation. Stop doing that and also save the girls around you.”
