Actor and model Saheefa Jabbar Khattak took to Instagram to candidly reflect on the current state of Pakistani dramas, exposing the flawed systems behind their glamorous surface.

In a carousel post, she pulled back the curtain on behind-the-scenes realities, accusing production houses of exploiting actors, overlooking social issues, and prioritizing profits over purpose.

Despite receiving ample offers, Jabbar—who has acted in only five TV dramas—explained why she turned down most roles. “I always had work, more than enough, actually. But I didn’t say yes to everything. There were projects I simply didn’t believe in,” she wrote.

She criticized the lack of care in production, saying, “It’s rare that anyone takes a drama seriously during production. Most scripts don’t get the depth they deserve. As long as we create dramas just to sell, we’ll keep losing our purpose, our integrity, and the real stories that need telling.”

Calling for a shift toward realism, Jabbar took aim at the excessive glamorization of characters through unrealistic makeup and costumes. “Hire professional stylists and artists who understand how to dress a character according to the story, class, and culture. We need realism, not fantasy,” she urged.

She also questioned the absence of socially relevant stories in mainstream drama. “Why aren’t we making dramas about Balochistan, the Zainab case, or Noor Mukadam?” she asked. “Why not turn to documentaries? We’re surrounded by powerful stories—just take a walk outside Data Darbar and you’ll see heroin addicts no one talks about, or the child abuse ring in Kasur. These are the stories that should wake us up, not numb us.”

Nasir Chinyoti is an actor and comedian who has worked on stage, television and films. He is among the most successful Pakistani stars to work in Indian Punjabi films. He has been a part of several blockbuster films in Indian Punjab. He was a part of the recently released film Sadaar Ji 3 alongside Diljit Dosanjh and Hania Aamir.

Diljit Dosanjh took a brave step when he released the film starring Hania Aamir and Nasir Chinyoti, two stars from Pakistan internationally. This move brought a lot of backlash on the artist in his home country. He has been getting hate and ban calls from his own people in India.

Nasir Chinyoti spoke about Diljit and shared that he has never done a film for any Indian producer. He signed the films with the likes of Gippy Grewal, Diljit Dosanjh and Amy Virk. These people are superstars and they are like brothers to him. He requested Indian people to not hate Diljit or troll him. He added the way Diljit Dosanjh has showcased Punjab and Punjabi Pagg globally should be appreciated. He is a Sardar man and kept his word when he released Sadaar Ji 3.

Imran Ashraf Surprises Fans with Debut Punjabi Film, Shares Poster of Cross-Border Comedy

Actor and TV host Imran Ashraf surprised fans by taking a major leap in his acting career, sharing the poster of his upcoming Punjabi film Enna Nu Rehna Sehna Nahi Aunda on social media.

“We all have worked very hard on this film,” he wrote, as he revealed a poster featuring several prominent Indian Punjabi artists, underscoring a strong cross-border collaboration.

He announced that the film will release worldwide on August 22.

Surendra Arora penned the script, while Indian-origin Canadian filmmaker Rapan Bal directed the film. A Canadian-Punjabi comedy, the story explores the struggles faced by international students.

The team completed shooting last year, assembling a diverse cast that includes Imran Ashraf, Nasir Chinyoti, Indian actor-singer Jassi Gill, Ranjit Bawa, Nirmal Rishi, and Navpreet Kaur Banga.

This film marks Imran’s first international project and makes him the second Pakistani actor, after Hania Aamir, to work in a major cross-border production. While Hania’s Sardaar Ji 3 still awaits clearance in India, it has already achieved major success in Pakistan.

Meanwhile, promotions for Enna Nu Rehna Sehna Nahi Aunda are in full swing, generating buzz on both sides of the border.
